Fire Safety & Information

Wildfire safety is a very creditable threat to our daily lives and we have had several devastating fires in a and around the KRCA and Lake County, California. We have a responsibility to prevent fire from spreading throughout our Community. When you purchased property in the KRCA boundaries, in your closing documents you signed acknowledgement of belonging to the Clearlake Rivera Community Association DBA "Kelseyville Riviera Community Association". You have entered a covenant and a legal contract to maintain your property(ies). The KRCA has invested in 3 solar powered waring siren system. These sirens are tested every first Monday of the month at 11:00am. Please stand outside or open your window and let us know if you can hear them. The purpose of the EWS is to provide a redundant warning system for residents and visitors in the KRCA of potential or emergent hazards that threaten life and property. The EWS is designed to work in coordination with existing emergency notification systems and processes and to alert residents of emergencies.  This is an investment of the KRCA member benefits that doesn't seem to get the honorable mention it deserves when you think about member benefits.

If funds are an issue to home improvements that could mitigate the spread of fire please contact

In January of 2024 some of the abatement standards the KRCA has been attempting to enforce will become law. The bill in the legislation will allow counties to abate your property and attach the fees to your county property taxes. The cost to local, county, state and federal agencies has been astronomical. It is a cost that can be avoided with the proper care and maintenance of your property.

What can I do?

Clean all dead vegetation from your existing plants, trees, and shrubs. Cut all tree limbs that are less than 10 feet from your roof. Remove hazardous plants like Italian Cypress, Rosemary, Manzanita, Juniper bushes and pine trees. Leave a defensible space of at least 5 feet around the perimeter of your home.

Keep gutters free of materials and install gutter guards. Install fire resistant vents around your home. Remove wood fencing and/or wood gates and replace them with metal. Do NOT store wood piles or flammable materials under your deck.
